Disclaimer….this is the first poem I have written in 20+ years. I literally banged it out at work in less than 20 minutes. I am sure edits are to come.

How do I express a feeling…
That myself do not understand?
I could stand on top of a mountain and scream
Or, I could whisper it to the sand.

Either way, your heart would be at a loss,
Because you do all your feeling with your head.
These thoughts pace around in my brain,
While my body rests beside you in our bed.

Am I the one too complacent to change?
Would you care if EVERYTHING did?
Your mouth tells me one thing…but,
It is my heart and my fears I keep hid.

Are you like me? Tred of this doomed emotion?
Maybe you should just go and leave me to the ocean.
But who am I without your there?
And how are you to ever convince me you care?
